The project “You Are Not Alone” (2020-2022) was born from my commitment as a transgender person, as well as an urgent need for representations of transgender individuals. I embarked on photographing and collecting testimonies with the aim of giving voice and visibility to my community.
As a member of the transgender community myself, I felt a pressing need to create a platform to share our often ignored or misrepresented stories. I wanted to break stereotypes and raise public awareness about the complex and varied reality of gender identity.
Through photography sessions and in-depth interviews, my participants and I shared our reflections on transphobia, as well as moments of joy, discovery, and personal growth related to our gender identity. These authentic testimonies aim to educate and inspire those who encounter them.
The exhibition in May 2022 was the culmination of this project, providing a platform for our voices to be heard and our faces to be seen. Under the evocative title “You Are Not Alone,” the exhibition celebrated the diversity of our community while conveying a powerful message of solidarity and support.
